Used to এর ব্যবহার
আমরা সাধারণত অতীতের কোন কাজ/অভ্যাস বুঝাতে Used to এর ব্যবহার করি। অর্থাৎ অতীতের এমন কিছু কাজ বা অভ্যাস যা এখন করি না বা নেই।
Examples:
√ I used to smoke. (Means: আমি অতীতে ধুমপান করতাম কিন্তু এখন আর করি না। )
√ This room used to be courtroom in British period. (বৃটিশ আমলে এই রুমটা কোর্ট রুম হিসেবে ব্যবহার করা হতো কিন্তু এখন এই রুমটা কোর্ট রুম হিসেবে আর ব্যবহার করা হয় না। )

√ She used to be very shy (তারমানে, সে এখন আর লজ্জাবোধ করে না। )
√ I used to steal mango when I was young.
√ She used to be a school teacher but now she is a lawyer.
√ I used to play truant as I was at Class six.
√ I used to be a good student.
√ They used to fight each other but now they have become good friends
√ My father used to be a businessman but he is now a politician.
√ They used to live in this house, now they live in a town.
Used to এর ব্যবহার
Used to এর Negative Form
√ I didn’t used to like Pop music. (অতীতে পছন্দ করতাম না, কিন্তু এখন পছন্দ করি। অর্থাৎ পপ মিউজিকের প্রতি অতীতে যে অপছন্দ ছিল তা আর নেই।)
√ She didn’t use to love me. (আগে ভালবাসতো না কিন্তু এখন আমাকে ভালবাসে)
√ I usedn’t like Pop music= didn’t use to (Contraction)
√ I never used to like Pop music.
More Examples of Used to (Negative):
√ I didn’t use to like him but now he is my best friend.
√ They didn’t use to live in this house.
√ They didn’t use to quarrel each other, now they always fight each other.
Formal Writing-এ “Used to”-এর Word order লক্ষ্য করুন।
Negative: I used not to like Pop music.
Question: Used you to play piano?
Always যুক্ত Sentence-এ “Used to”এর Word order লক্ষ্য করুন।
Informal: I always used to be afraid of Cockroach.
Formal: I used always to be afraid of Cockroach.
